Welcome to the Rhymney Heritage website

Rhymney has a unique, fascinating history and heritage equal to any other in the valleys, through it is perhaps less well known.

The Rhymney Heritage Society and this site seek to make the town's proud heritage better known to all with stories from the development of its ironworks leading to the establishment one of Wales' most famous breweries, to a world-renowned poet who captured the essence of the valleys in times of depression through to a remarkable and perhaps little-known history of local people who helped shape modern medicine across the world.

We hope these tales will inspire people today who live in Rhymney as well as attract more visitors to come and find out more about our town and its heritage. You can also walk in the steps of that history by following the Rhymney Heritage Discovery Trail.
