Welcome to the Rhymney Heritage website.

Rhymney has a unique history and heritage equal to any other in the valleys, through it is perhaps less well known.

We hope the Rhymney Heritage Society and this site will help rectify that – with stories from the development of its ironworks leading to the establishment one of Wales’s most famous breweries, to a world-renowned poet who captured the essence of the valleys in times of depression, to a remarkable and perhaps little-known history of people who helped shape modern medicine.

We hope these tales will inspire people today who live in Rhymney as well as attract more visitors to come and find out more about our town and its heritage.
